New Delhi, May 12: India on Monday reiterated that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was launched solely to dismantle terror infrastructure across the border, and not to target the Pakistani military.
“Our fight is against terrorists, not the Pakistan Army,” Air Marshal AK Bharti said during a press briefing in the national capital.

He further stated, “It is unfortunate that the Pakistani military chose to side with terrorists and intervened. Hence, we were compelled to respond accordingly.”
Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7 as a retaliation to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack. In the operation, Indian forces successfully destroyed nine terror facilities located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. All subsequent Indian military responses were carried out under the same operation.
Since the operation began, tensions have escalated sharply between the two neighbouring nations, with both sides reportedly targeting each other’s military positions.
However, in a significant development on Saturday, both countries reached a mutual agreement to cease all military actions—across land, air, and sea—with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the scheduled talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, initially planned for 12 noon on Monday, were postponed by a few hours. The reason for the delay remains unclear, as per reports from news agency PTI.
