Bengaluru, May 13: The political war of words intensified on Tuesday as Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra lashed out at State Minister Priyank Kharge for questioning the Centre’s decision to pause military operations after the success of Operation Sindoor. The BJP leader staunchly defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that national security should never become a subject of political point-scoring.
Kharge had earlier raised concerns over the ‘ceasefire’ move post-Operation Sindoor, demanding to know who authorised the decision and seeking a special Parliament session for clarity. He also criticised alleged foreign influence, particularly from the United States, over the ceasefire talks, accusing the Union Government of lacking transparency.

Responding to these remarks, Vijayendra Yediyurappa condemned the Congress for “undermining the nation’s strategic triumph and questioning the bravery of the armed forces.” He stated, “This is not just an irresponsible statement—it damages the morale of our forces and strengthens the narrative of hostile nations like Pakistan.”
Referring to Operation Sindoor as a landmark mission, Vijayendra said India’s military had successfully neutralised high-value terror targets and inflicted significant blows to Pakistan’s military infrastructure. “To question the timing or intent of the ceasefire without understanding its strategic importance is reckless,” he said.
He further rejected claims that the ceasefire was a result of external pressure, stating, “The Modi government has acted in India's best interests. Whether it’s suspending the Indus Waters Treaty or calling for global accountability on terror, the Centre has consistently demonstrated strong leadership.”
Taking aim at Kharge’s foreign policy remarks, Vijayendra accused the Congress of echoing narratives that find favour in Pakistan. “It’s ironic that their criticism is applauded across the border, while our forces risk their lives to secure the nation,” he added.
The BJP leader said Congress had a history of indecision in handling national security, drawing a contrast with the government's firm stance during Operation Sindoor. “Unlike the inaction witnessed during 26/11, today’s India, under Prime Minister Modi, has shown the world it will respond with strength and strategy,” he said.
Vijayendra concluded by calling for unity, urging political opponents to place national interest above party politics. “At a time when our soldiers have achieved a major victory, the least we can do is stand with them, not question their success,” he said.
