SMVITM hosts ‘Technical Project Ideation’ exhibition showcasing innovation and student talent

Udupi, May 13: The Co-curricular committee and Hobby Project Club of SMVITM in association with ISTE student chapter of SMVITM and Institute Innovation Council organised the 'Technical Project Ideation' Project Competition and Exhibition in the institute premises on May 12.

The competition was inaugurated by Hariprasad Bhat K, an alumnus of the institution and currently a software developer at Kambala Solutions Private Limited. In his address, Hariprasad Bhat K encouraged students to actively participate in such competitions, emphasizing that they offer valuable opportunities for self-development. He advised students to build projects and include them in their resumes, as it showcases their technical skills and enhances their employability. "Participation in these events not only strengthens your skills but also makes your resume stand out to potential employers," he said.

Principal Prof Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of hands-on project work in deepening students' understanding and motivated them to seize every opportunity to learn and grow through practical experiences.

A total of 105 projects from first, second, and third-year students were showcased. The students exhibited their live models, presentations, and banners with great enthusiasm.

The valedictory program of the “Technical Project Ideation” competition was graced by Pragathi Nayak, an alumna of the 2014–18 batch of SMVITM and currently working as an automotive engineer at Harman India International.

In her address to the gathering, Pragathi Nayak shared insights from her journey from college to the professional world, emphasizing the significance of technical skills and project-based learning. She encouraged students to actively participate in such events, as they provide a strong foundation for career growth and real-world problem-solving. She also urged them to make the most of their college years, learning, growing, and enjoying the journey.

Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, chief executive officer of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Educational Institutions, graced the event as a distinguished guest. In his inspiring address, Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal encouraged students to strive for excellence through innovation and continuous learning. He emphasized the importance of nurturing ideas into tangible products with institutional support and stressed that active participation in such initiatives is crucial for growth. He further announced plans for the establishment of an incubation centre to promote start-ups and highlighted the significance of industry-supported internships, which will be facilitated within the college itself.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dean QA Dr Sudarshan Rao K, dean academics Dr NagarajBhat, event judges, cocurricular coordinator Dr Renita Sharon Monis, and ISTE coordinator Shashikala. Their presence added great value to the programme.
