Mumbai, May 13: In a groundbreaking crossover of family and film, Ajay Devgn and his son Yug Devgn have joined forces for the first time in their careers, lending their voices to the Hindi version of Karate Kid: Legends. The film, set for a nationwide theatrical release on May 30, will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India announced the exciting collaboration with a post on social media, writing:
“The master has a new voice. So does the student! Ajay Devgn & Yug Devgn are all set to bring Jackie Chan & Ben Wang’s epic journey to life in #KarateKidLegends (Hindi). Kick into action with the Hindi trailer dropping soon.”
Ajay voices the legendary Mr. Han, originally portrayed by Jackie Chan, while his son Yug makes a debut by voicing the main character Li Fong — played on screen by Ben Wang. This marks Ajay’s first voiceover for an international project, while Yug's involvement adds a youthful and dynamic layer to a cherished franchise.
Karate Kid: Legends is set in New York and follows the journey of Li Fong, a talented kung fu student trying to adapt to a new school environment. As tensions rise with a rival karate champion, Li is mentored by Mr. Han and the legendary Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio), embarking on a powerful quest of self-discovery and resilience.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn was recently seen in Raid 2, reprising his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik. The sequel, which also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor, follows Patnaik’s 75th raid targeting the corrupt political figure Manohar Dhankar, also known as Dada Manohar Bhai.
Released on May 1, 2025, Raid 2 emerged as a major box office success, becoming the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
