Bengaluru, May 14: In a moment of pride for the Kannada entertainment industry, popular small screen actress Disha Madan has been invited to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2025, currently underway in France. The actress, who is known for her impressive performances on television, took to social media to share the joyous news with her fans.
The Cannes Film Festival, one of the most iconic film festivals in the world, began on May 13 and will continue till May 24. This global celebration of cinema sees participation from acclaimed actors, filmmakers, and celebrities from across the world. Invitations to this elite gathering are extended only to a select few, making Disha Madan’s inclusion a notable honour.

Expressing her excitement, Disha Madan, who hails from Bengaluru, recalled her cinematic journey, which began as early as her third birthday when she was enrolled in dance classes. “I would dance for hours, and when I got tired, my mother would lovingly feed me and sing Dr. Rajkumar’s songs to put me to sleep. Every Sunday, my grandfather would screen the film Babruvahana at home. Cinema has always been an integral part of my life,” she shared in an emotional video.
The talented actress emphasised that her foray into acting was a natural transition from dance. “There is an actress in every dancer,” she said, crediting her background in dance for her success on screen.
Disha proudly stated, “It gives me immense pride to say that icons like Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Shankar Nag, and Puttanna Kanagal belong to Karnataka. I am honoured to be from the same land. Being invited to Cannes to witness the best of global cinema is a moment I will cherish forever.”
Currently, Disha is captivating viewers with her portrayal of Bhavana in the popular Kannada television serial Lakshmi Nivasa. Her powerful emotional performances have made her a household name across Karnataka.
With her Cannes invitation, Disha Madan joins a growing list of Indian talents gaining international recognition, bringing Kannada television into the global spotlight.
