Dubai, May 14: Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been crowned the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2025, following a series of standout performances in the home Test series against Zimbabwe. He edged out strong competition from Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani and New Zealand’s Ben Sears to claim the prestigious accolade.
Mehidy becomes only the third Bangladeshi cricketer to receive the honour, joining Shakib Al Hasan (March 2023) and Mushfiqur Rahim, and is the first from the country in over two years to win the award.
“It’s an incredible honour to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award,” Mehidy said in a statement released by the ICC. “Moments like these remind me of my journey — being named Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC Under 19 World Cup was a massive encouragement early in my career, and this award feels just as special.”
Stellar All-Round Display
April proved a golden month for the 26-year-old, who was named Player of the Series in the two-match Test showdown against Zimbabwe. In the opening Test in Sylhet, despite Bangladesh suffering a defeat, Mehidy bagged 10 wickets (5/52 and 5/50), showcasing his dominance with the ball.
He followed it up with a match-winning performance in Chattogram, scoring 104 runs — his second Test century — and clinching another five-wicket haul, earning him Player of the Match honours and ensuring the series ended in a 1-1 draw.
