New Delhi, May 16: Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar, currently riding high on the success of her Netflix series The Royals, has found herself back in the social media spotlight — not for her performance this time, but for her empowering response to online trolls who commented on her appearance.

A resurfaced video from an old interview with film critic Anupama Chopra has gone viral, in which Bhumi candidly addresses being trolled for the size of her lips. Sitting alongside co-actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi recalls a rather bizarre comment she once received.

"Somebody actually told me that your lips are too big. I said, ‘Since when is that a problem? Aren’t people paying lakhs of money to get that done?’" she responded, drawing applause from the internet for her unapologetic stance. “They can say the most bizarre things. I think you should just be aware of what you are and not care,” she added.

This isn’t the first time the Badhaai Do actress has had to tackle body shaming or cosmetic surgery speculation. Last year, she and her sister Samiksha Pednekar were at the receiving end of another wave of trolling when a video showing their resemblance went viral. While some fans praised their bond and beauty, others insinuated they had undergone cosmetic procedures, with one even suggesting they had “the same surgeon.”

Samiksha, however, did not take the comment lightly and shut down the criticism with a strong reply — a move that was widely appreciated by followers for standing up against unwarranted scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Bhumi is winning hearts for her role as Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, the powerful CEO of a tech firm in The Royals. The show also stars Ishaan Khatter as Maharaj Aviraaj, along with Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, and Vihaan Samat. The series, which dropped on Netflix on May 9, has been created by Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy and directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana.

Whether it’s through her on-screen presence or off-screen statements, Bhumi Pednekar continues to inspire fans with her confidence and fearless attitude — proving once again that she’s truly a queen in her own right.
