Mangaluru, May 16: The Dakshina Kannada district administration, in association with the zilla panchayat and the department of horticulture, has organized a three-day mango mela under the theme ‘Direct Sales from Farmers to Consumers’ at Kadri Park, from Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18.

The event was inaugurated on Friday, May 16, by district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and MLC Ivan D'Souza. A total of 20 eligible traders have been given the opportunity to sell mangoes and related products at the fair.

The mela features a wide variety of high-quality, naturally ripened mangoes including Alphonso, Badami, Mallika, Rasapuri, Malgova, Sendur, Kalpad, Totapuri, Benganpalli, and Sugar Baby.

Dinesh Gundu Rao said, "The mango fest is a three-day event in Mangaluru that has seen great public response over the years, and this year promises to be even bigger with a wide range of mangoes—Alphonso, Badami, Mallika, rare hybrids, and even international varieties. All the mangoes are naturally grown and completely organic, sourced directly from farmers in regions like Ramanagara, Srirangapatna, Kolar, Khanakpur, and Magadi. With no middlemen involved, customers get top-quality mangoes at prices lower than the market, and farmers receive fair returns. It is a great opportunity for the public to enjoy fresh, authentic mangoes while supporting our farmers."
