Mumbai, May 17: The horror thriller Final Destination: Bloodlines opened strongly at the Indian box office but couldn’t cross the Rs 10 cr mark on its second day, earning an estimated Rs 5.3 cr on Friday.

Released on Thursday, the film collected Rs 4.5 cr on its first day. The English version led with Rs 2.5 cr, followed by Rs 1.5 cr from the Hindi dubbed version, and Rs 50 lac combined from the Tamil and Telugu versions.

Friday’s collections saw only a slight increase with the English version contributing Rs 3.25 cr, maintaining steady urban market interest. The Hindi version added Rs 1.6 cr, while Tamil and Telugu versions dipped to Rs 45 lac combined. The two-day India net total stands at approximately Rs 9.8 cr.

Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, the film carries forward the cult franchise known for its suspense and elaborate death sequences. Co-director Lipovsky noted, “Being part of this franchise, which has influenced culture for 25 years, is the most thrilling part.” He added how the series has become a cultural touchstone, with people often referring to real-life oddities as “Final Destination moments.”

Stein praised the use of practical effects in the film, recalling, “We built the giant restaurant…and then we blew it up.” Lipovsky also shared, “We built a cabin in the woods, and then we blew it up.”

Despite positive word of mouth and franchise legacy, Bloodlines faces stiff competition this weekend from Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning, releasing in India on May 17, a week before its global launch.
