MP Kota Srinivas Poojary objects to cancellation of Mangaluru-Bengaluru day train service

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, May 18: MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has strongly objected to the decision by South Western Railway to cancel the Karwar-Bengaluru and Mangaluru-Bengaluru day train services for five months, citing railway electrification works as the reason. He has urged railway officials to immediately resolve the issue and withdraw the cancellation.

He stated that the decision was taken without public consultation and without exploring alternative arrangements, which will inconvenience thousands of passengers.

The move will particularly affect those who rely on trains during the monsoon when road travel becomes difficult. He also mentioned that he had informed the railway minister about the issue over a phone call, and that the minister responded positively.

The MP suggested that by adjusting goods train schedules, it is possible to operate the day trains. If the cancellation of the day trains is absolutely unavoidable, an additional night train between Karwar and Bengaluru should be arranged via the Padil bypass, he added. A formal letter has also been sent by the MP to South Western Railway in this regard.
