Munich, May 19: FC Bayern Munich turned the city centre into a sea of red and white on Sunday as both the men’s and women’s football teams came together for a joint celebration after winning their respective league titles. Thousands of fans gathered in the Bavarian capital for the traditional title party, creating a festive atmosphere to mark a historic season for the club.

For veteran forward Thomas Müller, the celebration was especially poignant. After a 25-year journey with the club, Müller will bid farewell following the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

“It was a wonderful day. We’re thrilled to finish the season with the Bundesliga title. Personally, I feel great and incredibly valued. Honestly, I’ve been saying goodbye for weeks now—I’ve run out of space for all the pictures,” Müller said with a smile. “I’ve soaked in every special moment. The two-week holiday will give me time to process it all. And of course, we’re focused on going to the Club World Cup to win it.”

Newly appointed head coach Vincent Kompany, who made the leap from English side Burnley to manage Bayern’s top-flight squad, was full of praise for his team and excited about the road ahead.

“It’s been incredible. I’m thrilled for the fans and the city. The season was fun, the energy was great from the lads—and that’s the foundation we’ll build on,” Kompany said. “We’ll enjoy this, but we’re already thinking about what’s next. After the break and international duties, we’ll prepare thoroughly for the Club World Cup. That’s the next big objective.”

Adding to the momentous occasion was Bayern’s women’s captain Giulia Gwinn, who led her team to a historic domestic double this season.

“It’s special to celebrate like this with both teams—it doesn’t happen often,” Gwinn shared. “We’ve had a few chances to enjoy the success, but today made us realise again just how big this is. We’ve made history, and it feels incredible to share it with everyone.”

Sunday’s joint celebration not only marked a season of triumph for both teams but also showcased Bayern’s unity and strength across the club—setting the stage for more silverware ambitions in the months ahead.
