Bengaluru, May 19: Actress and model Disha Madan made a striking appearance at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival 2025, walking the red carpet and capturing global attention with her rich display of South Indian culture and Kannada pride.

Representing Indian cinema on the international platform held in Cannes, France, Disha turned heads in a specially woven Kanchivaram silk saree paired with a traditional blouse, crafted by skilled artisans near Chettinad, Tamil Nadu. The ensemble was enriched with silk and golden threads, showcasing the region’s timeless craftsmanship.

She adorned herself with vintage gold and diamond jewellery from the heritage collection of Gajaraj Jewellers, further amplifying the traditional elegance of her look.

Sharing her joy on Instagram, Disha wrote, “I wore a bridal look that became iconic in the 1950s in Tamil Nadu’s Chettinad region. It was more than just a costume—it was a way to revive and celebrate a lost culture on an international stage. It filled me with pride.”

The actress used the hashtag #FromKarnatakatoCannes to commemorate the moment and celebrate her roots. Her appearance drew widespread appreciation, with thousands lauding her graceful representation of Karnataka and South Indian heritage.

Known for her roles in the Kannada film French Biriyani and the web series Humble Politician Nograj, Disha remains a prominent figure in the world of modelling and television.

The Cannes International Film Festival, once known as the 'France International Film Festival', is held annually in the scenic beach city of Cannes, France, during May. It is a dream platform for actors, filmmakers, and media professionals worldwide, with the red carpet being one of the festival’s biggest attractions.
