Gaza, May 22: A shocking statement by former Israeli Knesset member Moshe Feiglin has sparked outrage across the globe. In an interview with Israel’s Channel 14, the far-right politician declared that “every child in Gaza is the enemy,” calling for the full occupation and settlement of Gaza. “Not a single Gazan child will be left there. There is no other victory,” he asserted.
The remarks came soon after Yair Golan, a retired IDF deputy chief of staff and head of the newly formed political party The Democrats, accused the Israeli government of “killing babies as a hobby.”
Addressing a press conference, Golan said, “Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa once was, if we don’t return to acting like a sane country. A sane country does not fight civilians, does not kill babies as a hobby, and does not engage in mass population displacement.”
He also criticised the current leadership, calling it “vengeful and immoral,” and warned that it is incapable of handling a national crisis responsibly.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted strongly to Golan’s statements, calling them “wild incitement” and a “blood libel.” In a statement, Netanyahu said, “I vehemently condemn the wild incitement from Yair Golan against our heroic soldiers and the State of Israel. The IDF is the most moral army in the world and is fighting in a war for our existence.”
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have intensified their offensive in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu has vowed to take full control of the territory to defeat Hamas and secure the release of hostages.
Feiglin’s comments have raised serious concern among international human rights organisations and global observers, with many condemning the dehumanising rhetoric directed toward civilians, particularly children, in war zones.
