Washington, May 22: A person was shot and taken into custody outside the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, early Thursday morning, in what is being termed a "security incident" by officials. The Central Intelligence Agency confirmed a person was “engaged by security personnel” outside its gates, but did not clarify whether the suspect had been shot or injured.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 am (0800 GMT), a Fairfax County Police spokesperson told ABC News. The main gate to the CIA's high-security compound was briefly closed, and employees were instructed to use alternate routes.

While details remain limited, Reuters reported the shooting, citing multiple media sources. NBC later confirmed the incident was non-fatal. No link has been officially drawn to another high-profile attack in the capital a day earlier.
On Wednesday night, two Israeli Embassy staffers were shot dead outside a Jewish museum in Washington D.C. The victims were identified as Yaron Lischinsky, an Israeli national, and Sarah Milgrim, an American citizen. The couple, reportedly on the verge of engagement, were killed by a lone gunman while leaving the event.
The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, 31, of Chicago, was arrested shortly after the attack. Witnesses say he shouted, “Free, free Palestine,” during his arrest. Authorities are investigating the motive, which is being described as antisemitic in nature.
Reacting to the attack, President Donald Trump posted on social media, “These horrible DC killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed outrage, stating, “We are witnessing the terrible price of antisemitism and wild incitement against Israel.”
Officials have not confirmed whether the CIA security incident and the Washington shootings are connected, but both events have prompted heightened security measures and concern over targeted violence in the US.
