Bantwal, May 23: In a road mishap reported on Thursday, a rickshaw driver sustained injuries following a collision between an auto rickshaw and a car near the Netravati bridge on the national highway connecting BC Road and Panemangalore.

The injured driver, identified as Mohammed Askar Ali, was immediately rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. According to eyewitnesses, the rickshaw was en route to Panemangalore when a car, reportedly driven by Mohammad Shafi, approached from the opposite direction and rammed into the three-wheeler.

The impact left the rickshaw completely mangled. Preliminary investigations suggest that rash and negligent driving by the car driver may have led to the accident.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal traffic police station.
