Poland, May 24: India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial meet held in Chorzow, Poland, on Friday, marking his third podium finish of the season.
Competing in challenging wet conditions, the Olympic gold medallist registered a best throw of 84.14m on his final attempt. Though below his season-best of 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League, the effort was enough to edge out Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who finished third with 83.24m.

Germany’s Julian Weber took the gold with a throw of 86.12m, continuing his dominance over Chopra this season.
Chopra, who began the event with a foul, followed with throws of 81.20m and 81.80m before landing his best on the sixth attempt. He had earlier won gold in Potchefstroom, South Africa, and silver in Doha.
The 27-year-old Olympic and World Championship medallist is gearing up for another strong season as he eyes further glory in upcoming international meets.
