Bantwal, May 25: Torrential rainfall lashed Bantwal taluk on Saturday, causing minor damages and disruptions across the region. Except for a retaining wall collapse reported in Vagga of Kadabettu village, no major destruction has been reported.
The downpour led to severe traffic disruptions, particularly along a 2-km stretch between Kalladka and Melkar, where muddy roads and potholes made travel difficult. In Mani, the lack of proper drainage has once again caused waterlogging in the underpass. Although a JCB was used to clear the blockage on Saturday, a permanent solution remains elusive.

While the water level in the Netravathi River remains stable, excess water is being released from all dams. Due to the runoff from nearby hilly terrain, the river has turned muddy, changing its usual colour.
A dark, overcast sky blanketed the area on May 24 morning as continuous rain poured down. Though there were brief breaks later in the day, intermittent showers continued throughout.
