Boy, 9, dies of electrocution in Delhi Park

New Delhi, May 25: In a tragic incident, a nine-year-old boy lost his life after getting electrocuted while playing in a park in southeast Delhi's Kalkaji area on Saturday night.

The deceased, Aryaman Chaudhary, a resident of DDA Flats, Kalkaji, was playing at a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) park when his ball fell near an electric pole. According to police, the child came into contact with an open electric switchboard while trying to retrieve the ball, suffering a severe electric shock.

Police said they received a PCR call regarding the incident around 9.30 pm. Aryaman was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by locals and family members, but doctors declared him brought dead.

A case has been registered under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Kalkaji Police Station.

Authorities are investigating to identify those responsible for maintaining the park's electric infrastructure. No response has yet been received from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
