New Delhi, May 26: In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for allegedly leaking sensitive national security information to Pakistan’s intelligence operatives.

The accused, identified as Moti Ram Jat, was nabbed in Delhi and is accused of being involved in espionage activities since 2023. According to the NIA, Jat was sharing classified information with Pakistani Intelligence Officers (PIOs) and receiving payments through various channels.

“He had been actively passing on critical security information to PIOs and receiving funds from them via multiple conduits,” the agency stated.

A Special Court at Patiala House has remanded Jat to NIA custody till June 6. The interrogation of the accused is currently underway, the agency added.

This arrest comes at a time when security agencies are on high alert following India’s armed conflict with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Over the past two weeks, at least 12 individuals have been apprehended from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in connection with a widening espionage probe.

Among those arrested is YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, whose online presence includes 3.77 lakh YouTube subscribers and 1.33 lac Instagram followers. She was reportedly in touch with a Pakistan Embassy staffer, Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, who was forced to leave India earlier this month.

A 31-year-old woman from Punjab, Guzala, is also under investigation for alleged links with the same officer.

Authorities have launched a deeper operation to uncover the full extent of the network, and several digital content creators are now under surveillance for potential espionage links.
