Mumbai, May 29: Television sweetheart and OTT star Asha Negi has taken a firm stand on the depiction of bold content in the entertainment industry. In a recent interview, the Pavitra Rishta actress revealed that she has walked out of multiple projects where intimate scenes were inserted without creative justification.
“Yes, I’ve left projects many times,” Asha confessed. “When I feel the story lacks depth or bold scenes are added unnecessarily, I don’t enjoy being part of it. In such cases, I prefer to let go.”
Known for her grounded personality and versatile acting, Asha asserted that staying true to one’s personal values is paramount in an industry where content boundaries are constantly evolving. She also dismissed the notion that bold scenes are a shortcut to fame. “I don’t believe actors do bold scenes just for fame. Honestly, does bold content really bring recognition? What truly leaves a mark are well-written stories, strong characters, and honest performances,” she remarked.
Having made a successful transition from daily soaps to digital platforms, Asha shared that she never felt limited by her television image. “After a point, I chose to step back from TV and focus on roles that challenged me. The OTT space gave me the freedom to break out of stereotypes,” she added.
Most recently, Asha was seen in Criminal Justice 4, a gripping legal drama where she shared the screen with veteran actor Pankaj Tripathi, who reprised his beloved role as lawyer Madhav Mishra. Directed by Rohan Sippy, the series premiered on JioHotstar on May 22, receiving praise for its powerful performances and tight narrative.
With her clear stance on integrity and content quality, Asha Negi continues to set an example for young actors navigating the fine line between artistic expression and personal values.
