Mangaluru, May 29: A decomposed body of a woman was found under suspicious circumstances near Montepadavu, within the Konaje police station limits, raising strong suspicion of murder.

The deceased has been identified as Sundari (35), originally from Sakleshpura. She had been working as a domestic help in various homes in the area for the past one and a half years and was reportedly living alone.

According to police sources, the body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition, with a red stone tied to her waist. This has led investigators to suspect that she may have been murdered and her body disposed of with an attempt to submerge it.

Preliminary reports suggest that the murder may have taken place about a week ago.

The Konaje police have registered a case and begun a detailed investigation. The possibility of harassment leading to murder has not been ruled out.

Further forensic examination and post-mortem will help determine the exact cause and time of death.
