Bengaluru, May 30: The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is set to conduct multiple entrance and training selection examinations across 113 centres in Karnataka on Saturday, May 31, with over 52,000 candidates expected to participate.

Speaking to the media, KEA executive director H Prasanna confirmed that examinations will include MTech, DCET (Direct CET), and IAS and KAS training entrance tests. He also emphasised that strict identity verification using facial recognition technology will be implemented at all exam centres to prevent impersonation and malpractice.

DCET and MTech entrance exams

The DCET examination, which facilitates lateral entry into the 3rd semester or 2nd year of engineering degree programmes, will be conducted at 46 centres. A total of 21,201 candidates have registered for the exam.

In parallel, the MTech entrance examinations for disciplines including Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering will be held at 13 centres, with 3,756 candidates expected to take part.

KAS and IAS training exams

The Social Welfare Department’s KAS training entrance exam is scheduled to take place at 14 centres, with nearly 20,000 candidates vying for selection into government-sponsored coaching programmes.

Additionally, 7,403 candidates from the Kalyana Karnataka region will appear for the IAS and KAS training selection exams, aimed at boosting representation from this historically underdeveloped region.

Medical tests for differently-abled and PGCET candidates

KEA has also announced the schedule for medical examinations of differently-abled candidates who appeared for UGCET. These assessments will be conducted from June 3 to 6, and candidates are required to pre-book their slots via the official KEA website.

Similarly, medical evaluations for PGCET-2025 candidates are scheduled for June 9 and will take place at designated KEA offices. Dates for MBA and MCA aspirants’ medical tests will be announced at a later date.

KEA’s advisory

KEA has urged all candidates to arrive at their exam centres well in advance, carry all required documents, and adhere strictly to the guidelines provided. “Our objective is to ensure a smooth, fair, and transparent examination process,” executive director Prasanna stated.

With such a significant number of candidates set to appear, the KEA's multi-tiered examination day on May 31 represents one of the state's most extensive academic testing efforts in recent months.
