New Delhi, May 31: During a visit to the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Indian Navy’s decisive role in Operation Sindoor, highlighting how its warships and fighter jets effectively contained Pakistani forces. Singh cautioned Pakistan that next time, the Navy could be the first to respond with force.
Speaking to naval personnel aboard the 45,000-tonne aircraft carrier—accompanied by its full battle group including submarines and other warships—Singh emphasized the Navy’s achievement in maintaining a formidable “air-defence bubble” spanning nearly 300 km, which successfully thwarted any potential attack from Pakistan’s coastal forces near Karachi.

“During Operation Sindoor from May 7 to 10, the Navy’s vigilance ensured Pakistan’s forces were cornered. While this time Pakistan was spared the full might of our naval firepower, they now know that any future aggression could see the Navy lead the counteroffensive,” Singh declared.
He didn’t mince words when addressing Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism. “Pakistan must understand that the era of playing with fire through terrorism is over. Any future provocation will be met not just with consequences, but with decisive defeat,” he warned.
Singh made it clear that India would not shy away from using every available option against terrorism emanating from Pakistani soil. “No method is off the table when it comes to safeguarding our nation,” he said.
Regarding US claims that their intervention prevented an escalation into a full-blown war, Singh dismissed them outright: “No external force can deter India from defending itself against terrorism.” He urged Pakistan to dismantle its terror infrastructure and hand over wanted criminals like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar.
While acknowledging repeated overtures from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for dialogue, Singh underscored India’s firm stance: “Terror and talks cannot coexist.”
