New Delhi, May 31: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Shankar Prasad sharply criticized Pakistani nationals who protested outside a venue in Copenhagen hosting an Indian parliamentary delegation. Speaking to the Indian diaspora, Prasad described Pakistan as “desperate” and accused the protesters of acting under the instructions of their “handlers.”
“We came here carrying the hopes, aspirations, and blessings of 1.4 billion Indians. I was surprised to see Pakistanis shouting slogans here,” Prasad said. He added that such protests had followed the delegation on their visits to France and Rome, and attributed the unrest to Pakistani authorities urging them to disrupt the events.
Prasad, a key member of the seven-member all-party delegation, said the Indian delegation’s message about Operation Sindoor is receiving strong coverage worldwide, despite the attempts to derail their efforts. “Pakistan is a desperate country — it acts out of desperation and ignores facts with impunity,” he remarked.
The Indian delegation includes BJP MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad and Daggubati Purandeswari, Samik Bhattacharya, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Congress MPs Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and Ambassador Pankaj Saran.
Other delegation members voiced their concerns about Pakistan’s activities:
• Samik Bhattacharya highlighted the need to raise global awareness about terrorism and noted that Pakistani businesses abroad often operate under Indian names.
• MJ Akbar labeled Pakistan as having a “double face” and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for effectively confronting Pakistan’s conduct.
• Priyanka Chaturvedi stressed the importance of cross-party unity against Pakistan, recalling Shiv Sena’s historical position. She questioned the IMF’s loan to Pakistan, suggesting that the funds may be fueling anti-India actions.
“As we arrived, we noticed flags representing their cause,” Chaturvedi said. “It made me think about how IMF loans are being used. I hope those providing the funds understand this. Just moments ago, I checked outside, and the protesters had left. Meanwhile, Indians remain steadfast in their support for Mother India.”
