Texas, May 31: Codie Sanchez, a prominent US businesswoman, author, and founder of Contrarian Thinking, has heaped praise on India’s rising stature as a global business force, calling it “severely underestimated.” Sanchez, who is based in Texas and holds an MBA from Georgetown University, shared her views in a post on X (formerly Twitter) while announcing her plans to tour India.
"I'm planning an Indian tour... I think people severely underestimate India as a business powerhouse," she wrote. Comparing past perceptions with current realities, she added, "Past = It's only call centres. Now = millions speak fluent English. Past = IT back office for the world. Now = tons of engineers with complex skills. Past = Copycat Indian startups. Now = Billion-dollar native creative startups."

She concluded her tweet by highlighting India’s strengths: “Functioning democracy. Rule of law. Intellectual property rights. Entrepreneurial attitude. All ingredients for the next startup innovation hub.”
Her remarks struck a chord with many, triggering a wave of responses from Indian entrepreneurs and netizens. One user offered to host Sanchez in Morbi, Gujarat, a major export town known for its factories. "India is amazing. Despite its reputation, it is truly the future in terms of business," the user wrote. Sanchez replied, "Thank you, I have never been to those parts of India!"
Others echoed her sentiments. "India’s transformation is incredible. From innovation hubs to startup unicorns, the potential is massive," commented one. Another added, "It’s not just talent, but hunger, creativity, and a new wave of builders who are setting trends.”
An X user noted, "India is going to become the new China for the USA… Their economy will grow. Millions will come out of poverty. Hopefully, this time we do it smartly."
Codie Sanchez, who has previously worked with global firms like Vanguard, Goldman Sachs, and State Street, also hosts a podcast called Big Deal. Her planned India tour is now being closely watched by startup enthusiasts and investors alike, as she sets her sights on exploring the country's booming entrepreneurial ecosystem.
