Shama Mohamed claims world sides with Pakistan, not India

New Delhi, Jun 1: Congress leader Shama Mohamed has stirred controversy by claiming that “everybody is with Pakistan and not with India,” despite Islamabad’s role in cross-border terrorism. Her remarks come as India intensifies diplomatic efforts to expose Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam terror attack and highlight the objectives of Operation Sindoor.

“After 26/11, the world stood with us. Now, who is with us? Why is Pakistan getting MoUs and trade deals while we, the victims of terror, are being equated with perpetrators?” she told ANI, also invoking Donald Trump’s claim that the US facilitated the India-Pakistan ceasefire by leveraging trade embargoes on both nations.

Shama, who earlier this year drew backlash for body-shaming cricketer Rohit Sharma, alleged that Trump's stance had effectively lumped India and Pakistan together. “He has said 11 times that he helped bring the ceasefire. They are the ones attacking, and we are defending – yet we are treated the same,” she said.

Her remarks have triggered strong reactions as they contrast India’s current global outreach to counter Pakistani misinformation post-Operation Sindoor. The Indian military, in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26, destroyed nine terror bases in Pakistan and PoJK.

Following India’s retaliatory strikes, Pakistan targeted Indian civilian and military installations. India then escalated with air strikes deeper inside Pakistani territory. It was then that Pakistan’s DGMO reportedly requested a ceasefire, which Trump later claimed credit for, stating, “We can’t trade with countries shooting at each other.”

India, however, has refuted any link between trade talks and ceasefire diplomacy, clarifying no such condition was accepted during communication with Washington.

Adding to the discourse, Chief of defence staff gen. Anil Chauhan acknowledged that Indian jets were downed during the exchanges but stressed learning from tactical errors. “The numbers are not important. What matters is we fixed our mistakes and came back stronger,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.
