Mumbai, Jun 1: Actor Sanjay Dutt, gearing up for his upcoming film Housefull 5, took a heartfelt moment on Sunday to honor his late mother, the legendary actress Nargis, on her birth anniversary.

Posting on Instagram, Dutt shared two cherished throwback photographs. One is a striking black-and-white portrait of Nargis, radiating timeless grace. The other features Nargis alongside Dutt’s father, the renowned actor and politician Sunil Dutt, and a young Sanjay himself.

“Happy birthday maa, I miss you every day and love you more,” Dutt wrote in the caption, offering a glimpse into his deep love and reverence for his mother.

Nargis remains one of the most celebrated actresses in Indian cinema history, acclaimed for her sophisticated and versatile performances that spanned everything from screwball comedies to literary dramas. In the 1950s and 1960s, she was among the highest-paid actresses of her era, a true icon of grace and talent.

In 1958, Nargis married Sunil Dutt, her co-star from the landmark film Mother India—the same year the film earned an Oscar nomination. Their romance famously began when Sunil Dutt heroically saved Nargis from a fire that broke out on the film’s set, a dramatic moment later echoed in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Om Shanti Om.

Together, the couple raised three children: Sanjay Dutt, Namrata Dutt, and Priya Dutt.

On the professional front, Sanjay Dutt is preparing for his role in Housefull 5, a star-studded ensemble comedy directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The film features a lineup of prominent actors, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek A. Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Housefull 5 is slated to hit cinemas worldwide on June 6, 2025.
