London, Jun 2: BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya, visiting London as part of a multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation, sharply criticised Pakistan on Monday, saying India is not seeking global favours but issuing a stern warning about the rising threat of terrorism. His comments follow the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 lives on April 22.
“We are not at the doors of anyone with a begging bowl... We are here to alert all that what is happening with us will happen to you tomorrow,” Bhattacharya said, as quoted by ANI. He also condemned the inconsistent stance of some countries that shift positions to sell arms while preaching dialogue.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the Command and Staff College in Quetta, asserted that Islamabad now seeks equal partnerships in trade and innovation, distancing from past economic dependencies. He highlighted Pakistan’s ties with allies such as China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE.
The Indian delegation, led by former union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and including members from BJP, Congress, TDP, Shiv Sena-UBT, and others, is on a diplomatic outreach mission following Operation Sindoor. This military response to the Pahalgam attack targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
During their London visit, the delegation paid homage at the Rabindranath Tagore statue. Bhattacharya reflected on Tagore’s enduring relevance, saying, “He shall also remain relevant in the future.”
This diplomatic mission is the first of seven international tours involving around 40 parliamentarians from across party lines, aiming to present India’s position on Kashmir and terrorism, reinforce its zero-tolerance stance, and expose Pakistan’s terror networks on the global stage.
