Mangaluru, Jun 2: The third day of the Tredicina devotion in honour of St Anthony of Padua was observed with deep spiritual fervour at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, on Monday, June 2, 2025. The theme of the day, “Serve the Poor and Journey as Pilgrims of Hope”, urged the faithful to open their hearts in compassion and solidarity with those in need.

At Milagres Church, the evening novena Mass at 6:00 PM was celebrated by Fr Benjamin Pinto, parish priest of Urwa Church, Mangalore. In his homily, Fr Benjamin encouraged the congregation to imitate St Anthony in his love for the poor and marginalised, and to become instruments of God’s hope in a hurting world. He highlighted how true discipleship calls for concrete acts of charity and walking alongside the poor as fellow pilgrims towards a better tomorrow.

The Mass was concelebrated by Fr J B Crasta, director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, and Fr Gilbert D’Souza, a senior priest associated with the Ashram.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Gilbert D’Souza led the novena devotion with heartfelt prayers and petitions placed at the feet of the Miracle-worker Saint Anthony. The litany and devotional hymns uplifted the congregation in a shared moment of grace and intercession.

Meanwhile, St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, continued to witness a steady stream of devotees at its daily Masses at 6:00 AM and 11:30 AM, followed by free lunch served to all who participated, reflecting the spirit of Christian charity promoted by the saint.
