Chamarajanagar: Overburdened by Debt, Five from Family End Lives

Chamarajanagar, Jan 25: In a tragic incident which occurred at D G Doddi within the limits of Hanur police station in Kollegal taluk in the district on Tuesday January 24, five from the same family committed suicide.

In a suicide note left behind, the deceased confessed that they had decided to end their lives, because of the heavy burden of debt, and that no one else is responsible for their deaths.

Chand Pasha, his wife, Shakeela Banu, daughters, Minna and Yasmeen, and son, Mahid Tatpasha, hanged themselves for embracing death.

In the meantime, Chand Pasha’s son, Sultan Pasha, has complained to Hanur police, alleging that someone else had abetted these suicides, and requested them to investigate the issue. The policemen have registered his complaint, and begun investigation.

District superintendent of police, Chandrashekhar, inspector general of police, A S N Murty, tahsildar, Suresh Kumar, and other officials rushed to the village as soon as they came to know about the mass suicide. The bodies were entrusted to the primary health centre in Hanur for post mortem.

    May their soul rest in peace. Very sad to see now people are resorting to suicide, if it is the remedy no one can live. However we cant say what mental agony they have faced which lead to this extreme step. May God give enough strength to their near and dear ones to come over this grief.
