Maryland, Jun 20: Maryland Governor Wes Moore, a combat veteran and rising star in the Democratic Party, has sharply criticized US President Donald Trump for what he described as a "lack of seriousness" in handling the escalating Iran-Israel conflict.
Moore, the first Black and 63rd Governor of Maryland, served in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan. Speaking in an interview on Thursday, he said, “As someone who has worn this uniform… to see such a free-wheeling conversation about issues of life and death is disappointing.”

His remarks came after President Trump issued what he called an "ultimate ultimatum" to Iran, warning it against developing nuclear weapons. When asked if the US would join Israel militarily, Trump vaguely stated, “I may do it, I may not do it — nobody knows what I’m going to do.”
Moore, considered a potential 2028 presidential contender, condemned the ambiguity, saying, “People’s lives are on the line. These are serious issues and serious times. The whole 'will I-won’t I' game is not helpful.”
The comments come as global tensions rise, with Friday marking the eighth day of the conflict between Iran and Israel. Countries like the UK, Germany, Canada, and Australia have stepped up calls for Iran to completely abandon its nuclear ambitions.
In response to Moore’s statement, White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said, “Americans overwhelmingly elected President Trump because they trust him to keep our country safe. As the President has said consistently, Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon.”
As the situation intensifies, diplomatic efforts remain fragile, and criticism of Trump’s rhetoric continues to mount both at home and abroad.
