Lorry rams divider while avoiding barricade on NH66 near Kundapur

Kundapur, Jun 21: A commercial goods-laden lorry en route from Bhatkal to Mangaluru met with an accident late Thursday night near Ankadakatte on National Highway 66. The mishap occurred when the lorry driver attempted to avoid a roadside barricade and ended up crashing onto the road divider.

The front portion of the lorry was severely damaged due to the impact with the divider. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Locals have expressed strong concerns over the installation of barricades along the highway, stating that instead of preventing mishaps, they have become a cause for inconvenience and accidents — especially during nighttime. There are growing complaints that leaving barricades in place during late hours is leading to frequent mishaps.

Civic groups and residents are now demanding that barricades be removed or properly illuminated during the night to avoid such accidents in the future.
