Moodbidri, Jun 21: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a meaningful and spiritually enriching yoga session was held at the Bhattaraka Hall of Rama Rani Research Centre, Moodbidri, under the auspices of Jagadguru Swastishree Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Panditacharyavarya Mahaswamiji, head of the Moodbidri Shri Digambara Jain Math.
The event, held on Saturday morning, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and devotees, who were guided through various yoga postures and breathing techniques (pranayama).
wamiji himself demonstrated a range of advanced asanas including Parvatasana, Mayurasana, Sarvangasana, and the king of all postures - Shirshasana, while explaining their physical and mental benefits in daily life.

Swamiji highlighted how yoga is not just a physical exercise, but a profound path that blends devotion (bhakti yoga), action (karma yoga), knowledge (raja yoga), and meditation (dhyana yoga). “Through yoga, one can transform the self into a higher consciousness and experience the divine bliss of the supreme soul,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of emotional and spiritual well-being, alongside physical health. “Yoga nurtures self-awareness and introspection. It plays a key role in calming the mind, reducing anxiety, and enhancing focus in students. For working professionals, it helps manage stress and promotes inner harmony,” Swamiji added.
The session began with a warm welcome from college principal Soumyashree, and was attended by faculty members Hitesh and Sujatha, among others.
The programme served as a reminder of the deep-rooted spiritual heritage of yoga and its growing relevance in today’s fast-paced world.
