Mumbai, Jun 26: Actor Abhishek Bachchan returned to Bhopal to promote his upcoming film Kaalidhar Laapata, calling the visit a deeply personal journey back to a city that holds many of his childhood memories.

During the promotional event, the film’s team gathered at the scenic Bhopal Lake and released hundreds of floating diyas spelling out the film’s title — a symbolic tribute to the city’s spirit and the film’s emotional core.

“Coming back to Bhopal is always deeply personal for me,” said Abhishek. “It’s not just a filming location — it feels like home. Shooting Kaalidhar Laapata here brought back so many memories.”

Reflecting on the film’s theme, he added, “The image of diyas lighting up the lake beautifully echoed the heart of Kaalidhar Laapata — finding hope in darkness, making unexpected bonds, and embracing life no matter the circumstances.”

The visit was particularly meaningful for debutant Daivik Bhagela, who plays Ballu in the film and has roots in Bhopal’s theatre scene. The promotional tour was supported by Dr. Ilayaraja T (IAS), Secretary to the Chief Minister and MD of MP State Tourism.

Directed by Madhumita and produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment, Kaalidhar Laapata follows the journey of a middle-aged man (Abhishek) grappling with memory loss and abandonment, who forms an unlikely friendship with a spirited 8-year-old orphan (Daivik). The film is set to premiere on ZEE5 on July 4, 2025.
