‘Kaanta Laga’ fame Shefali Jariwala passes away at 42 in Mumbai, industry in shock

Mumbai, Jun 28: Popular actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic appearance in the music video Kaanta Laga, passed away in Mumbai late Friday night at the age of 42. Her sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and left fans across the country heartbroken.

Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed yet by the family. Her body has been shifted to Cooper Hospital for postmortem examination. Police are currently questioning the household staff, including the cook and house help, as part of routine procedure.

Shefali rose to fame in 2002 with Kaanta Laga, a remix music video that quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. Over the years, she made her mark in the industry with appearances in films, television shows, and reality TV. She was part of the Salman Khan-starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), and gained widespread popularity as a contestant on Bigg Boss 13, where her confidence and clarity stood out.

She also appeared in Nach Baliye seasons 5 and 7 with her husband Parag Tyagi, whom she married in 2015.

Tributes poured in from celebrities and colleagues, expressing disbelief and grief. Singer Mika Singh, a close friend of Shefali for over 25 years, took to social media saying, “Still can’t believe it… You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti.” Recalling their last project together in 2020, Mika shared an emotional post about their music video and their appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, calling it her final music project.

Actress Kamya Punjabi wrote, “I can’t get over this news… my heart is sinking. Shefali,” while Bigg Boss 13 co-contestant Tehseen Poonawalla said, “Life is so short. Incredible how #SidharthShukla and now she from my season are no more.”

Actor Paras Chhabra, who also shared the Bigg Boss house with Shefali, posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, writing, “Kiski zindagi kitni likhi hai koi nahi jaanta.”

As tributes continue to pour in, Shefali’s untimely passing serves as a poignant reminder of life’s unpredictability. Her vibrant presence and unforgettable performances will be deeply missed by fans and friends alike.
