New Delhi, Jun 28: A senior doctor at GTB Hospital in Delhi was assaulted late Friday night by unidentified individuals during a routine security round with the Resident Welfare Association (RWA).

RWA President Kehar Singh said a group of bike-borne men arrived around 8:30–9:00 pm and were stopped at the hospital gate. An altercation broke out, during which the doctor was attacked with a liquor bottle. One of the assailants claimed to be a police officer but refused to produce identification.

Dr Kuldeep Kumar, associate professor and chief Patron of the RWA, who was injured in the attack, said the assailants verbally abused and physically assaulted them without provocation. He expressed concern over rising incidents on campus, citing previous cases of molestation and even murder.

“We have long demanded better security for students and staff. The attackers not only assaulted me but also threatened us. We will pursue legal action,” said Dr Kumar.

A police complaint has been filed, and an investigation is underway. The hospital administration is expected to hold a meeting to discuss security measures.
