Missouri, Jun 28: In a shocking case out of Missouri, a prison nurse has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for poisoning her husband with antifreeze and setting their house on fire to marry a convicted murderer.
Amy Murray, who worked at the Jefferson City Correctional Centre, entered an Alford plea to second-degree murder, arson, and tampering with evidence. An Alford plea means the accused does not admit guilt but accepts conviction due to overwhelming evidence.

Her husband, Joshua Murray, was found dead in their burned home in Iberia on December 11, 2018. Authorities initially believed he died in the fire, but an autopsy revealed he had been poisoned. Investigators later found evidence of an accelerant used to start the blaze.
Murray was arrested three months later after police uncovered her relationship with Eugene Claypool, a prisoner serving a 25-year sentence for murder at the same facility where she worked. Recorded phone calls revealed that Murray spoke about marrying Claypool and removing her husband from the picture.
Joshua, who was a supervisor at Perini Construction and father to a son, Braden, had left the house shortly before the fire to get food with his son and their two dogs.
After her 2019 arrest, Murray posted a $750,000 bail and spent six years fighting the charges. Under her plea deal, the arson and tampering sentences will run consecutively but concurrently with her murder sentence.
