New Delhi, Jun 29: In yet another tragic incident linked to the banned Chinese manjha, a 22-year-old businessman lost his life after a deadly kite string slit his throat while riding a scooter on the Rani Jhansi flyover in north Delhi.

The victim, Yash Goswami, who owned an e-rickshaw spare parts shop in Karol Bagh, was returning home on Friday evening when the sharp kite string struck his neck, causing him to fall off the two-wheeler. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the source of the kite. An investigation is underway.

Devastated by the loss, Yash’s brother, Amit Goswami, urged the Delhi government to enforce a stricter crackdown on Chinese manjha. “How can anything that endangers lives be called a pastime? My brother is gone, and the government must act before more lives are lost,” he said.

Despite the ban, Chinese manjha continues to circulate in markets across the capital, leading to several fatal incidents over the years. In response, police recently seized over 1,000 rolls and arrested two individuals for illegal sale.

Chinese manjha, known for its glass coating and extreme sharpness, has claimed multiple lives in Delhi in recent years, including a child and a police officer. Authorities continue to conduct raids, but its presence remains a deadly threat.b
