Seoul, July 2: Global K-pop icons BTS are set to make a powerful return to the global music scene, with their first full-group album in four years, scheduled for release in spring 2026, followed by a world tour, reigniting the excitement of millions of fans worldwide.

The announcement was made by group leader RM during a live interaction on the fan platform Weverse, where he revealed, “We are planning to focus on creating new songs from July. Our album is coming out next spring. And there will be a global tour for sure.”

The highly-anticipated album will be produced in the United States, marking a strategic and symbolic comeback for the septet – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook – whose meteoric rise from obscurity to global stardom has left an indelible mark on the music world.

Their last official group album, “Proof”, was released in 2022. The group’s final concert before going on hiatus, “Yet to Come in Busan,” was held in October 2022. The members temporarily disbanded to fulfil their mandatory military service, a decision that was widely lauded for its patriotism and integrity, despite heated debates over exemptions.

With Suga completing his service last month, the stage is now set for BTS to reunite, not just as musicians but as cultural ambassadors ready to reclaim their place atop the K-pop and global music hierarchy.

During their absence, agency Hybe Co. relied on other acts such as Seventeen and Katseye, while grappling with internal management reshuffles including Scooter Braun stepping down from his role as CEO of Hybe America and tensions involving rising girl group NewJeans.

Despite a fast-evolving industry dominated by AI-generated music and TikTok trends, BTS' loyal global fanbase – ARMY – has kept the group alive in global consciousness through unwavering support, solo projects, and merchandising.

With a new album, a global tour, and a complete lineup, BTS' comeback is poised not just as a musical release, but as a resurgence of a cultural phenomenon – one that the world is once again eager to witness.
