Kolhapur, Jul 3: Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sanjay Pawar has reiterated his decision to step down from his post following a meeting with party chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday, citing dissatisfaction over the party’s internal appointment process in Kolhapur. Despite assurances from Thackeray of a possible course correction, Pawar confirmed he has not withdrawn his resignation and will continue to function as a regular party worker for now.
The row erupted over the appointment of Ravikiran Ingawale as Kolhapur district chief, a position that fell vacant after Pawar’s elevation to the deputy leader post. Pawar raised concerns about being excluded from the decision-making process, expressing disappointment over the lack of consultation in appointing his successor.

After his meeting with Thackeray at Matoshree in Mumbai, Pawar stated, “I am not yet satisfied. I informed him of my grievances. He assured me to make a course correction. I have not taken back the decision to resign from the post and will serve as a party worker.”
Party insiders indicated that Thackeray asked Pawar directly if he had any objections to Ingawale's appointment. Thackeray reportedly explained that Ingawale had prior experience as city president and was selected following some level of consultation with leaders from Kolhapur.
While Pawar has chosen not to escalate the issue further for now, he is awaiting Thackeray’s next move on addressing his concerns, making it clear that party unity must be rooted in internal transparency and inclusiveness.
