1.2 kg ganja seized in Vasco, one arrested, remanded to police custody

Vasco, Jul 5: In a late-night operation, Vasco Police arrested one person and seized 1.2 kilograms of suspected ganja worth approximately Rs 1.2 lakh during a raid near a construction site in Fakir Gali, close to the Coast Guard area.

The raid was conducted in the early hours of Friday, between 12:40 am and 3:10 am, based on specific inputs. The accused has been identified as Tilakdhari Yadav, a resident of Sai Nagar, Vasco, and originally from Uttar Pradesh.

According to officials, Yadav was allegedly found in illegal possession of the contraband substance. A case has been registered under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, at Vasco Police Station (Crime No. 49/2025).

Yadav has been remanded to seven days of police custody for further interrogation.

The investigation is being led by PSI Mayur Sawant, under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the overall guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.

Authorities have stated that further inquiries are underway to uncover possible links to a broader drug network.
