Traditional fishing boat capsizes near Udupi, fisherman dies after getting trapped in nets

Udupi, Jul 11: A tragic incident occurred at Padukere beach, Udupi, where a traditional fishing boat (Naad Doni) capsized due to strong sea waves, resulting in the death of a fisherman.

The deceased has been identified as Neelu (48), a resident of Pithrodi.

Neelu was thrown into the sea when the boat overturned. He became entangled in fishing nets and other gear, making it impossible for him to escape.

His body has been shifted to the district government hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered at Malpe police station.

    Very sad incident. Getting trapped in nets can be fatal, It’s the dangers that fishermen face every day just to make a living and provide for their families. May his soul rest in peace.
