Mangaluru, July 14: Panic gripped residents of Thenka Edapadavu village near Gurupura after a monkey entered a house near the Kundodi Daivastana and bit a sleeping child. The forest department, which had been tracking the animal for months, finally managed to capture the monkey on Sunday afternoon.
According to locals, the monkey had been roaming the Kundodi area for the past three to four months, often spotted near homes and temples. The situation turned alarming on Saturday around 3 pm, when the monkey broke into a house and bit a young girl named Dhrithi, who was asleep at the time. The monkey fled immediately after the attack.

Shocked by the incident, residents and members of the Edapadavu GP filed a formal complaint with the forest Department, urging swift action to trap the animal and prevent further harm.
In response, the forest department launched an operation on Sunday. A trap with bait was strategically placed near the area where the monkey was last seen. By Sunday afternoon, the monkey walked right into the trap, ending its months-long run.
The injured child was treated promptly and is now out of danger, authorities confirmed.
Residents have since expressed relief and praised the forest department’s efforts in addressing the growing concern before the situation escalated further.
