Retired wing commander, wife robbed of valuables worth Rs 66 lac

Pune, Jul 16: In a shocking incident, two masked robbers looted gold, diamond jewellery and cash worth over Rs 66 lac from the residence of a 78-year-old retired wing commander in the Wanwadi area of Pune city in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the police, the incident took place around 2.30 am when the retired Indian Air Force officer and his wife were asleep. The intruders, wearing black masks, allegedly sneaked into their bedroom, woke the senior citizen and threatened him while demanding the keys to their cupboard.

The robbers reportedly took away gold and diamond ornaments valued at over ?5 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 7.5 lac, among other valuables, totalling Rs 66 lac.

Before fleeing, the duo warned the couple not to raise an alarm or move, threatening them with dire consequences if they did.

Following a complaint filed by the victim, Wanwadi police have registered a case and formed special teams to investigate the robbery. Further inquiries are underway.
