Singapore, Jul 16: An Indian woman’s Reddit post detailing harassment by Indian men during her Singapore trip has gone viral, sparking outrage and calls for respectful conduct.

Travelling with three friends, the 20-something woman said their vacation turned disturbing after a visit to a Buddhist temple, where an Indian man in his mid-20s began following them. He claimed to be a frequent visitor to Singapore and insisted on joining them or guiding them to a monk’s vegan restaurant. Despite declining, he kept following them even after they skipped floors to avoid him.

The same man reappeared during lunch, offering to pay for their food and later asking them for cash under the pretext of needing change. When they saw him again near a store, they hurried to leave the area via the MRT.

The next evening, while exploring nightlife, two Indian men approached them uninvited at a bar. Despite being ignored, they joined their toast and later followed them to the dance floor. The women had to move closer to the DJ booth for safety.

“What shocked us was that it wasn’t strangers or locals — it was fellow Indians who felt entitled to intrude,” she wrote. “No means no — even if it’s not shouted.”

The post drew widespread support online. Commenters slammed the men’s behavior as “desperate” and “creepy,” urging better education on boundaries and consent. Some suggested reporting such incidents to Singapore authorities, known for strict law enforcement.
