New York, Jul 16: Defending champions and current World No. 1s Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka headline the official entry list for the 2025 US Open, with 10 former champions and 18 Grand Slam singles winners securing direct entry into the season’s final major.

Announced by the US Tennis Association (USTA) on Tuesday, the list is based on ATP and WTA rankings as of July 14. The cutoff for direct entry was set at World No. 101 for men and No. 99 for women.

The US leads all nations with 30 players directly in the main draw — 16 women and 14 men. Among them is an American woman ranked No. 7 in the world, one of four from the country currently in the WTA Top 8.

New Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner, who recently defeated World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling final, will look to defend his Flushing Meadows title. On the women’s side, Sabalenka aims to continue her dominant form as the top seed.

Players like Nick Kyrgios, Petra Kvitova, and Sorana Cirstea made the list using protected or special rankings due to injury-related absences.

The 2025 US Open main draw kicks off on August 24, promising another electrifying fortnight of top-tier tennis action.
