New Delhi, Jul 17: Tension gripped the national capital once again on Wednesday morning as four prominent schools received bomb threats through email, marking the third consecutive day of such incidents. Fortunately, all turned out to be hoaxes.

The affected institutions included St Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, Mother International School in Hauz Khas, and Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar.

According to Fire Services officials, the first alert came at 5:26 am regarding St Thomas School, followed by similar threats to the other schools between 6:30 am and 8:12 am. Immediate action was taken, with local police teams, bomb disposal squads, and fire tenders rushing to the spots. After a comprehensive sweep, authorities confirmed that no explosive or suspicious material was found in any of the schools.

In a significant development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh revealed that a 12-year-old boy has been detained for allegedly sending bomb threats to St Thomas School and St Stephen’s College on July 15. The child reportedly acted to get a school holiday and is not enrolled in any of the targeted institutions. After counseling, he was handed over to his family.

The DCP urged parents and students not to panic, stating that standard protocols were being followed. Authorities also reminded the public of a similar wave of email threats last year, none of which turned out to be credible.
