Panaji, Jul 17: With the monsoon setting the perfect backdrop, Goa is all set to host the 11th edition of the popular Rotary Rain Run on July 27 at Bambolim. Organised by the Rotary Charitable Trust of Porvorim in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Porvorim and Rotary Parivar, the event is poised to witness participation from over 2,500 fitness enthusiasts from across India and abroad.
Speaking at the jersey and medal unveiling ceremony held in the city on Wednesday, race chairman Avinash Singh Parmar said, “Rotary Rain Run continues to grow in stature and participation, not just as a fitness event but as a force for social change.”
The Rain Run, known for its vibrant atmosphere and inclusivity, features a variety of categories — a two-kilometre fun walk, a five-kilometre dream run, and the more competitive 10km and 21km timed races. A special two-kilometre walk for senior citizens, introduced in the previous edition, also returns this year. Additionally, the organisers have planned a fun zone to add to the festive spirit.
The 21km race route will take runners from Bambolim through Dona Paula, turning back at Miramar Circle — offering a picturesque coastal experience. Among the prominent participants this year are Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian and Goa’s Director General of Police Alok Kumar, further elevating the event's profile.
“Running is not just about endurance; it’s about health, purpose and community,” stated Harsh Thakkar, President of the Rotary Club of Porvorim. “It’s heartening to see political leaders, bureaucrats, and high-profile athletes run shoulder-to-shoulder with the common man.”
The race route is certified by World Athletics in association with AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), ensuring global standards. While there will be no cash prizes, finishers in the timed categories will receive official certificates.
Registrations remain open until July 24 and interested participants can register at rotaryrainrun.com.
