Mangalore, Jan 31: On Monday January 30, the 64th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination was observed as Martyrs Day at the office of Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee secretary, Ivan D’Souza, presided. Member, Suresh Ballal, was the chief guest. Former mayor, M Shashidhar Hegde, Sadashiva Ulal, B A Moidin Bawa, Suresh Shetty, Padmanabha Naringana, M P Manuraj, H M Ashraf of Congress Sevadal, and others were present.
Ivan D’Souza, in his address, urged the youth to follow the principles and ideals for which Gandhiji stood, hailing them to be eternal. “The entire world is following these ideals. Let us imbibe them in our lives,” he said.
Sadashiva Ullal welcomed. Ashraf proposed vote of thanks.
