Tamil Nadu, Jul 20: In a chilling case of domestic violence that has shaken the Karur district of Tamil Nadu, a woman was brutally stabbed to death by her husband inside a government hospital early Sunday morning. The accused, identified as Vishruth, is currently on the run, and a police manhunt has been launched to apprehend him.
According to preliminary reports, Vishruth and his wife, Shruthi, were involved in a violent altercation late Saturday night at their home in Karur. Following the assault, Shruthi was rushed to the Kulithalai Government Hospital for medical attention. In a shocking turn of events, Vishruth entered the hospital on Sunday morning under the guise of checking on her.
Concealing a knife, he launched a brutal attack, stabbing her multiple times in full view of hospital staff and patients. Shruthi succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

Eyewitnesses were left in disbelief as the accused fled the scene before security could intervene. Police arrived shortly after and registered a case of murder. Efforts are underway to track down the accused, whose sudden act of violence has left the community reeling.
This latest tragedy adds to a disturbing pattern of domestic violence incidents reported across Tamil Nadu in recent months. In June, a man in Tirunelveli set his wife ablaze following a quarrel. In May, a labourer from Bihar killed his estranged wife near a court complex in Vellore. Earlier this year, another woman was hacked to death by her husband in public at a primary health centre in Villupuram.
These repeated acts of brutality have raised alarm among women’s rights groups and social activists, who are demanding stricter enforcement of domestic abuse laws and greater protection for women. They have also called on the government to improve hospital security and establish emergency crisis centres for women facing abuse.
As the investigation into Shruthi's murder unfolds, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the escalating domestic violence crisis and the urgent need for systemic intervention to protect vulnerable lives.
